January Monthly Challenge - Get those Layouts Done!

Hey Ange here today, to bring you this month's totally awesome sketch challenge. Check it out!
This is the perfect sketch to help you get all those awesome holiday photos you just took scrapped! Shawn, of Nuts About Sketches, was kind enough to share this sketch with us for this challenge. Thanks Shawn! Her sketches are so easy to follow and create from. I just love using them and she has tons more on her blog Nuts About Sketches. Don't forget to go check them out!
There is no wrong way to use this sketch. So grab some paper and go! Here is my example:

I used the DCWV Crafty Christmas stack to put together this festive layout of my kids opening presents Christmas morning. I didn't have a 5x7 photo that I wanted to use on this page so I improvised by using two 4x6 photos that I actually cropped a little, since the one on the left was a horizontal picture, to fit into the 5x7 space provided. I didn't feel the need to add a lot of journaling to this layout, so I left the journaling spot blank, but you could always add some embellishment there or whatever makes you happy. That's what it's all about right?
So have fun and don't forget to come back and upload the link to your layout or e-mail a photo to info@scrapbookusaexpo.com by January 31st. I would love to come see it and leave a comment + one lucky (randomly drawn) participant will win 2 early bird tickets to The Original Scrapbook USA coming up March 22-23! :) Ange

Bring on 2013 + Monthly Challenge Winner!

I hope everyone had a safe, fun and memorable Christmas and Holiday break! I know that I did! I took a break from my computer, cleaning, laundry and other daily tasks and enjoyed lot's of movies, activities, game nights and fun with my family! Lot's of fun but as of today some of the kiddo's are back to school (minus the sickies) and it is time to get down to business!

Our December Monthly Challenge didn't get a huge response but I am figuring that is because you are all like me, the cards get made but only in time to get them sent out (and that is ok!). Thanks to all those who participated! A free regular admission to our spring show will be going to out to each of our participants!

Thanks so much Chelsie for sending in this darling photo! Super cute card!

Super cute Birthday card, Sarah! Thanks for sharing!

Fun card Angie! I am loving this DCWV stack!

After a random drawing, Chelsie is the winner of a MME product pack! Congratulations Chelsie!!

December Challenge Using our Card Sketch

Hello and good morning!!!!

It's Wendi here, and I am super excited to share the new December challenge with you today... Since this is the month of Christmas, and if you are like me, you still have a TON of Christmas or holidays cards that need to get made and sent out. So for this month's challenge we are providing you with a card sketch to get your mojo kick started.

Use this sketch to create a Christmas card:

I created this card with the sketch, using Basic Grey's Aspen Frost line
In addition I do want to add in that each time you make a card to remember to make one extra to bring to the show to donate to our "Care With Cards" program. We collected over 10,000 cards in 2012 that were donated to Huntsman Cancer Institute and Operation Write Home.

So since you have the sketch handy, why not just make another card????
Here's a second card that I created with the same sketch:
I also used the Basic Grey Card Kit which creates 12 cards!!!!! They were super easy and fun to put together. I ended up adding some machine stitching and some pop dots to add a bit to each card.
Here are the three cards, and then there is enough in the kit to make 4 of each:

And here's what I finished with:

Talk about boosting your stash quickly...

So for the December Challenge:
Create a NEW card using the sketch above.
If you have a blog ADD your project to this blog post using the link below, NO LATER than December 31, midnight MST. If you do not have a blog please e-mail a photo of your project to info@scrapbookusaexpo.com and we will add your project here.
You can enter a MAX of TWO times, one for the card you create and the second for the card to be brought to the "Care With Cards" program.

A random winner will receive a prize from the entries for this contest and it's a wonderful prize pack from My Mind's Eye PLUS everyone who participates will receive a free ticket to our March show!!!!!

Have fun and craft away!!!!!

Happy Monday & Monthly Monday Challenge Winner

It's official, December is here! Last night I did something that I have never done before. I wrapped Christmas presents the first week of December. Usually I don't even start thinking about it until around the 18th or so but this year, I am on top of it! I only had 5 or 6 to wrap so it wasn't huge but everything I have bought, I have wrapped (almost).

I never like to save things for the last minute, even though it seems to happen more often than not. It is for this reason that I love our new Challenges that we will be hosting each month. Why not get things done when the Challenge is here and share them with each other? Plus there is always the chance of winning a great prize just for participating!  Last month we hosted our very first Challenge! Thanks so much to those who participated. I am looking forward to doing this each month so keep watch because our next challenge begins next Monday. The best part of December's challenge is that it will inspire each of us to get going on another one of those Holiday activities that sometimes get procrastinated to the last minute.

Our November Challenge participation prize was sponsored by Basic Grey! They have some darling products out right now including their new Aspen Frost Collection. Such fun colors and designs! I am really excited to play around with these Holiday and winter themed papers!

Our very first Challenge winner is Jill from Every Day Is An Occasion! Thanks SO much for participating Jill! If you missed her Thankful projects hop over to her blog and you won't be disappointed!

Check out below for more Basic Grey inspiration and have a Happy Week!

Monthly Monday Challenge #1

Hello and good morning...

I am soooo excited to share that we are going to start something called the Monday Monthly Challenge here at the Scrapbook USA Expo blog... Each month, you will be given a challenge, whether a themed challenge, a sketch, color challenge, anything can happen here, and you will have the whole month to play along with, and be eligible to win a wonderful prize. You will have till the end of the month, at midnight MST to upload your project, page, card, etc to the challenge post and be entered to go into the drawing for a prize.

Let's get started for this months challenge, since it's the month of giving thanks, you challenge for November it so create something regarding the word THANKFUL... You can create a layout, a card, an altered project, or even a mini album, it's up to you.

For my example, I created a page with the title being Thankful for my Family.. now lately, family photos, that we are all in, are pretty hard to come by, so the best one I have is us at Halloween....

I used the DCWV Autumn Melody Cardstock mat stack and embellishments.
I used the metallic paper and used an embossed border punch to really make it stand out on the page.

So what are you thankful for??? What kind of project will you come up with.

So:
Create a NEWLY created layout, card,  or project with the theme of THANKFUL for this challenge. (no previously made projects or enteries will be accepted)
If you have a blog ADD your project to this blog post using the link below, NO LATER than November 30th, midnight MST. If you do not have a blog please e-mail a photo of your project to info@scrapbookusaexpo.com and we will add your project here.

A random winner will receive a prize from the entries for this contest. This month our prize will be a card kit giveaway sponsored by Basic Grey!! Product will include their brand new Aspen Frost, Kissing Booth and Little Black Dress!!!!

We hope that you will play along!!!! We can't wait to see it!!!!!
