Christmas Leftovers For Valentine's

So, when all the hustle and bustle is over and you find yourself with an overabundance of Christmas scrapping supplies, what do you do with them? Use them of course!
Kristin asked us to make something Valentine's theme and while this isn't exactly Valentine's I figured it was pretty darn close. So here's a little Mohawk Love for you:

I started with a kraft background, put some mist on it and then added papers from DCWV's Jolly Whimsy stack. Yep, Christmas, but look how perfectly they fit into this love theme!

For the diamond mat, all I did was cut along the design of the paper. Then I cut some of the smaller diamonds out and added them to my layout for embellishment. You can see one in the closeup above popped out of the mat using foam adhesive.
I'm a washi addict and I love using it to frame my layouts. Gives it a great finished look, don't you think?

Do you have extra letter stickers leftover? Yep, the entire title is from Echo Park's Christmas Reflections line. Last I added my journaling and my date with a date stamp. (love them!) I used a sketch by Lanette Erickson from 3 Scrappy Boys for this layout.

Thanks for looking and happy scrapping!

CHA Round-UP A-L

Hello and good morning..

It's Wendi here and I had the amazing opportunity to go to Winter CHA in Anaheim.. I've been before, but this time I was able to be there for 3 days and had a blast. If you haven't gone before, there is a TON to look at. It's 3-4 full convention sized halls full of crafting and supplies.. it is AMAZING and a bit overwhelming at the same time because there is soooo much to see.

Here is a run down of what I saw and fell in love with while I was there... I'll go in ABC order.

First up AMERICAN CRAFTS...

The DIY shop has some really fun basic embellishments and additives for any project...
Dear Lizzy collection: adorable embellies, the stamp set was too cute, and check out the wooden heart "paper"- how fun would that be to add misting, cut apart or make a home decor project with.

BELLA BLVD:
I swooned over the new Molly and Max collection since it's aimed towards tweens- not too baby for kid photos, but not too grown up for teenager photos. Both collections have fun patterns.
check out the pink camo paper:

The embellishments were also very playful and fun- I can't wait to get my fingers on them:

BASIC GREY:
I was really drawn to the fun, bright colors of the Spice Market collection, perfect for spring and summer photos.

and these cool metal embellishments and these fun shapes:

Next up... CHICKANIDDY CRAFTS:
A new company that is in the scrapbook industry with two new collections. The enamel hearts from each lines are so delicious.

They also have gold and silver specialty papers that can be run through any die cut machine or embosser.

COSMO CRICKET:
Has some of the cutest little wood charms out there:

And some really cute organizational containers for holding scrappy goodies or anything else. The containers either come with vintage knobs or opened spaces:

CRATE:
Always has such sweet collections and great embellishments that coordinate, I'm a huge fan of their chipboard pieces.

How cute are these little bow embellies? I might even use them and attach them to my little girl's hair clips.

DCWV:
Always has great displays in their booth. Check out this layers HUGE scrapbook layout.
As always, they have TONS of new Mat Stacks coming out, in almost every theme, color scheme, textures, or holiday line you can think of.

ECHO PARK:
Always have great collections packs, along with some of their mini lines that are coming out. Did you know that Echo Park releases a new collection every month?? That is so cool, and always gives me something new to look forward to.

This soccer line really has me excited to scrap the kids soccer photos this year:

And this collaboration line with Allison Kreft looks so bright and happy:

GLITZ DESIGNS:
Always one of my favorite companies with ubber cool embellies. Washi tape, giant rhinestones and some fun puffy stickers this year.
The Carpe Diem has some little woodland creatures in it.. can you say, What Does the Fox Say?

Here are two of the lines 77 and Carpe Diem:

HAZEL and RUBY:
A newer company out of Utah, the owners are Jayme and Lindsey (who previously was involved with Cosmo Cricket). They have some fresh and new creative products.
Large rolls of washi tape:
Pretty sequin tubes- which are a HUGE cool embellishement right now:

And lots of fun stencils, which are great to do DIY boards with:

JILLIBEAN SOUP:
I always love to see what new soup names they are going to come out with to name their new collections..
Spicy Social Soup has lots of fun embellies, along with a stamp on an instagram camera..

Their placemats are all the rage to use on your projects. They come in several patterns, to be used in whole or cut apart:

Soooooo that's what I have for you today. I still have M-Z to get through next time. There is a TON of cool new product, papers and embellishments calling my name.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day....

A Jolly yet Whimsy Christmas Layout

Hello and good morning...

I have to say I am a HUGE fan of the non traditional Christmas scrapbook lines. I love aquas, lime greens, and pinks to mix it up a bit. The DCWV Jolly Whimsy Mat Stack... As soon as I saw the colors I just fell in love with it!!!!

I used the Dear Santa paper for my background to get started. This Christmas I was very anxious to meet our little one that was due in December. Her due date was the 22nd and she was actually born on the 7th. Talk about Santa coming early that year... LOL

I actually fussy cut the HO HO HO words from one of the patterned papers and then punched snowflakes and added them throughout the layout:

The second layout is of my daughter who has a Christmas dance recital each year. I always snap a few photos of her by the Christmas tree in her dance outfit. So this line was perfect for it.

The Mat Stack comes with a sheet of tags and spots that are perfect to cut out and add to your project:

I just LOVE these Mat Stacks.... make sure to check out DCWV to see what new things they have in store.

Thanks for stopping by.

other supplies: MME enamel dots, Kaiser Craft bling, Mister Huey mists, Twine, Border punch, MS snowflake punch, OA mini alphas, Sharpie pens.

DIY Wrap

Hi! Have you seen DCWV's Holiday Glitzy Glitter stack? It is GORGEOUS!! I love it.
I've been using it for backgrounds on layouts and cards and now I'm using it as gift wrapping.
Perfect, right? I made 6 boxes, put some little toys in them and gave them to the kids I watch. They loved them.

My favorite thing about these papers, besides how beautiful they are, is that you don't end up with glitter all over you. It's really just amazing. It all stays put on the paper and it's easy to work with.
I also added some cute tags using the Jolly Whimsy stack.

I thought these boxes were really easy to make. My 12yr daughter found them here:
Boxes and made a couple. I pulled them apart to figure it out on my own.

Keep in mind a 12x12 sheet of paper gets you a box that is 3x3x3, perfect for the small gifts and so fun with this awesome glittery stack (that doesn't flake off when you're working with it!).
  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Holidays,

DCWV Jolly Whimsy Layout

Have you seen Jolly Whimsy by DCWV? It is SO cute! I think I am in love with this stack. So today I have a layout for you using papers from this adorable stack.

I am a big wrapping paper person and I'll tell you why. Kids LOVE to tear paper! It's just fun and I love to see the look of excitement and surprise on their face when they reveal the wonder beneath the pretty paper. Maybe wrapping paper speaks to my scrappy side too? lol

The look of excitement on my son's face is what really grabbed my attention with these photos. I wanted to really bring that excitement to my page and I thought what better way than through torn wrapping paper?

So I picked this cute Letter to Santa pp for my background and then some fun prints that I could tear up and layer on my page. Then I cut the snowflake circles, Santa, and ornament from another pattern and added them to the page, a few with foam adhesive for dimension.

In the upper right corner I layered some washi before adding my ornament for a little extra fun. Super simple and easy page that really brings out the joy of gifting.
Happy Holidays! :)Ange

DCWV - pp, brad
doodlebug - washi tape
uniball - red pen

Homemade Holiday Cards - You still have Time!

Hello! I have some more fun Holiday cards for you today. I used DCWV Holiday Glitzy Glitter and Jolly Whimsy stacks for these cute cards:

The temperature was about 10 degrees outside when I took these photos and it made the glitter paper curl up. I was a little worried things were going to pop off or they weren't going to straighten back out, but almost the second I got them back in the house they flattened back up.

For this card I used this gorgeous red and silver striped background and then cut out the sentiment from the Jolly Whimsy stack. I hand drew and cut a pattern for the stockings so I could cut them out of the fun prints in the stack & hung them from twine. And the 24 I cut from a paper in the stack also.

I really like the look of the rolled pp, so I made a tree from some of the adorable patterns in the line and then added the noel wreath from the icons paper. The trunk is made from the barcode edge of the glittered pp, love it when those are useful! And a glittery star button from my stash.

This glitter pattern was so pretty I actually wanted to just use it as the whole card. lol But I added the cute little snowman from the icons pp, backed with the fun gold snowflake pp & then added the snowflakes and a bit of liquid pearls for fun.

Thanks for stopping by today! I'm off to mail these.

Wood Christmas Trees

Hi all! I have a fun (and easy!) home decor project to share with you using unfinished wood shapes, acrylic paint and DCWV paper! DCWV has some really cute holiday stacks this year and the nice thing about this project is you can customize it to suit your taste and decor (traditional, whimsical, vintage, etc.).
To start with I got some unfinished wood Christmas tree shapes with dowels on blocks. Here in Utah we have a local store that sells these fun shapes, but I know that a lot of craft supply stores sell things like these now.  They look a little something like this when you're first starting out:
Next you're going to choose your paper. I chose some papers from the Jolly Whimsy stack. I like the whimsical look for these trees, but as I mentioned earlier, there are several stacks to suit your personal taste!
Once you have your papers chosen you're going to mark the FRONT of your tree and flip it so it is facing the BACK of the patterned paper you chose. Then you're going to trace the outline of the wood piece on your paper and cut it out. Don't worry if it isn't perfect or if you couldn't get to some of the really tight nooks and crannies. You can always trim it up after it's adhered to the block with a razor or sand paper.
Next you're going to choose your acrylic craft paint color and paint it up! I color the entire back and most of the front where the paper is going to go, but you can paint just the part that is going to show if you wanted to save time (and paint!)
Once this is dried you are going to adhere the paper onto the front of your shapes. You can use Mod Podge for this, but I was once recommended to just paint on wood glue and that has always worked great for me. I just paint on the glue the same way I would the acrylic paint and then carefully place the paper. The glue takes a few minutes to dry so if you need to reposition the paper it's not a problem. I use a squeegee type of tool to make sure there aren't any air bubbles and then lay it paper side down to let the glue set so it doesn't pucker.
While that is drying I paint my bases and dowels. I found some fun glitter paint that I used on the bases. I drop a little wood glue in the hole on the base and then place my dowel to help secure it. I do the same thing when securing the tree to the dowel.
Now all you have to do is add some embellishment. The possibilities are endless- ribbon, craft wire, glitter glue, etc. Whatever suits your fancy! I used some tinsel ribbon on mine.
I hope you enjoyed the project- thanks for checking it out today!

Super Cute Stocking Stuffers!

Hello my fabulous friends!

Ready for SUPER CUTE gift/stocking stuffer?

How stinkin' cute are THESE???
Little decorated packs of TicTacs would make anyone's day, right?!?

The best part... If you have a Silhouette, they literally come together in minutes! If you don't, it would take a little longer, but STILL!

What I LOVE about these particular ones is the PAPER! It is from DCWV "Holiday Glitzy Glitter" stack. In all honesty, I usually don't like glitter paper. But this "glitzy glitter" is a finer glitter, and has a more shimmery look... I am SO in love with it! It is GLAMOROUS  and ELEGANT. So pretty!

Enjoy!

Supplies Used:
Paper: DCWV Holiday Glitzy Glitter, Core'Dinations
Ink: MarkIt
Silhouette: "Christmas Tree TicTac Wrap" & "Snowman TicTac Wrap"
Other: flocking, jute

Christmas Cards!!

Hello and good morning...

I have to admit that making Christmas cards is one of my favorite type of cards to make. Maybe because I don't usually  make them all year long, but I really enjoy creating them. Here are a few that I made with the DCWV Jolly Whimsy Mat Stack.

Ho Ho Ho card:

Merry Christmas card: I decorated the tree with bling

Tis the Season: I used a tag and journal spot from the elements paper

Holly Jolly Christmas: with a touch of mist and bling

What a fun Mat Stack... make sure to check out DCWV and see what's new.

Thanks so much for stopping by....

Other Supplies: Mister Huey mist, MME enamel dots, Kaiser Craft bling, machine sewing, twine.
